Apprent-ICE Blog #17
Hey guys
Yes unfortunately this will be Blake and Peter's last blog update from the ice. What an amazing time we’ve had! We have been very fortunate with our trip, and will go home with a better understanding of how important the work is that the team does here .
Last week we did a live cross video call, from Scott Base to the National Certified Builders Conference in Christchurch. It was to build awareness of Antarctica, and to give a boost to the Apprent-ICE challenge that they will be running again later this year. Jeanine Begg opened with a talk about Antarctica New Zealand, Scott Base and the Apprent-ICE challenge supporting the HFC project. The audience asked us some questions, which was a lot of fun for us and them.
The Scott Base social committee are organising a leaving diner on Saturday night for us. It's a horror themed diner with an opportunity to take the winter over photo. We hope everybody will get involved with a few speeches for the staff here, as they have been so good to us over the last 4 months (and we’ll put a bar shout on!).
We would both like to take this opportunity to thank all Antarctica New Zealand Staff, both in Christchurch and the team at Scott base for being wonderfully supporting hosts, and welcoming us into their 'family'. We have loved every minute of our adventure and will be forever telling stories of our time down here.
Here are a just a few pictures of the highlights of our trip!
