Geophysical and geochemical studies in the dry valley region of South Victoria Land were conducted by the Japanese from the beginning of November to the middle of January during the 71/72 austral summe. The majority of these studies were continuations of ones begun during the previous summer. The notable exception was the depth sounding study which was added this summer in conjunction with the preliminary work of the Dry Valley Drilling Project.
